• Know Your Rights: Support for Immigrant Youth & Families

  District 27 is hosting two virtual “Know Your Rights” sessions on May 4, 2026 at 12:00PM and 6:00 PM to support immigrant youth and families living in New York City. This presentation will offer a clear overview of legal rights, key protections under the law, and how to access essential services across the city.

  Attendees will learn about available resources, including legal assistance, healthcare, basic needs support, mental health services, special education, language access, and programs for older youth. Spanish and Wolof interpretation will be provided to ensure the session is accessible to a wide range of families.

  This event is a valuable opportunity to gain reliable information, connect with trusted resources, and better understand the support systems available in your community.

• 6th Grade Spring Dance

  Get ready to celebrate spring in style! Our Grade 6 Spring Social Dance is happening on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 2:30–5:00 PM in the Blackwell Bistro (Large Cafeteria). This fun-filled afternoon will feature music, dancing, and a chance for students to connect and make lasting memories with friends. Admission is $15 (cash), and permission slips are required. Be sure to follow all school rules and dress code guidelines. We can’t wait to see everyone there for an exciting and festive event!

  NYC Public Schools is introducing guidance on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure students learn safely and effectively in an evolving digital world. The initiative focuses on building age-appropriate skills, supporting educators, and maintaining strong safeguards while using AI to enhance—not replace—teaching. Please visit schools.nyc.gov/AI to review the preliminary guidance and complete a short feedback survey. The survey will be open for 45 calendar days through May 8, 2026.

  Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, in accordance with New York State law, New York City Public Schools is updating its policy regarding the use of personal internet-enabled electronic devices—including cell phones—in school.
